Scoring Siblings: Levin Brothers Create First Israeli Pro Hockey Duo

Mike Levin Joins Brother David at Corona Brașov, Making Israeli Hockey History

Brașov, Romania – September 15, 2025In a historic moment for Israeli ice hockey, 19-year-old forward Mike Levin has signed with CSM Corona Brașov in Romania, joining his older brother David Levin on the club’s roster.

Mike Levin, seen here during his junior career with the OHL’s Niagara IceDogs, has now united with his brother at Corona Brașov.

This marks the first time that two Israeli brothers are playing together on the same professional hockey team. The move was facilitated through a collaboration between Corona Brașov and the Israel Ice Hockey Federation, aiming to develop young Israeli talent while strengthening ties with Romanian hockey.

On September 12, 2025, Mike Levin made his debut for Corona Brașov, and just two days later on September 14 he scored his first professional goal for the team – in only his second game. In that Sep. 14 matchup, David Levin registered an assist on a goal, making it the first time Israeli siblings each recorded points in the same pro game. This milestone thrilled fans and added another chapter to Israeli hockey history, as the Levin brothers’ immediate on-ice impact showcased their chemistry and skill.

“We are delighted to have such a great Israeli player joining his brother in the professional ranks,” a CSM Corona Brașov spokesperson said, reflecting on the significance of uniting the brothers. The club’s management noted that the energetic presence of the Levin duo has already given the team a boost. “This is not only a fantastic story for our club, but also an exciting development for hockey in both Israel and Romania,” the spokesperson added. Team officials and supporters alike are energized by the brothers’ reunion and the spark it has brought to the locker room.

Background on the Levin Brothers: David Levin, 25, is one of Israel’s most accomplished hockey exports. At age 12 he moved from Tel Aviv to Canada to pursue hockey, and he famously was drafted first overall in the 2015 Ontario Hockey League draft, launching a prominent junior career with the Sudbury Wolves. David went on to play professionally in multiple countries – including a stint in the KHL – before signing in Romania. Last season, in 2024–25, he was a standout for Corona Brașov with 16 goals and 39 assists (55 points) over 41 games in the Erste Liga, establishing himself as one of the team’s top offensive players. He has also represented Israel at the senior international level, bringing veteran experience and leadership to Brașov.

Mike Levin, 19, developed his game through the Canadian junior system and is considered one of the brightest young talents in Israeli hockey. Born in Tel Aviv and raised in both Israel and Canada, Mike played in the OHL for the London Knights and Niagara IceDogs during his youth career. Internationally, he starred for Israel’s U20 national team – he was named Team Israel’s best player at the most recent IIHF U20 World Championship Division II-B, after leading the squad to a silver-medal finish in that tournament. Mike’s scoring prowess and playmaking ability at the junior level caught the attention of Corona Brașov and the Israeli Federation, prompting this unique opportunity to join his brother in the pro ranks.

This brotherly reunion is more than just a feel-good story; it’s the result of a strategic partnership between the Israeli and Romanian hockey programs. The Israel Ice Hockey Federation actively worked with Corona Brașov to facilitate Mike Levin’s transfer as part of a broader development initiative. “We’re grateful for the collaboration with the Romanian Federation – it’s a win-win,” said an Israeli Ice Hockey Federation official, “and we hope this is just the beginning of more Israeli players gaining experience in European leagues.” Both federations view the Levins’ success as a promising precedent. By strengthening ties through such collaborations, they anticipate that more Israeli talent could soon follow in the brothers’ footsteps, further elevating Israel’s presence on the international hockey stage.

For Israeli hockey fans, the sight of David and Mike Levin on the ice together in Brașov is a proud and inspiring moment. As the 2025–26 season progresses, all eyes will be on the Levin brothers, who have already made history – and who promise to create many more memorable moments in the games to come.
